Plexon’s newsletter from May 14, 2014 discussing the JoVE/PlexBright Publication Contest that has now ended.
The May 31st deadline for the second Plexon/JoVE Publication Grant Contest – valued at $4,200 – is quickly approaching! This contest focuses on research performed using the industry leading PlexBright™ Optogenetic Stimulation System.
The Winner Walks Away with . . . .On behalf of the winner, Plexon will compensate JoVE to perform all of the standard activities to review, edit and publish the manuscript in a text format accompanied by a professionally developed video – filmed onsite – detailing the study methods and analysis including scripting and a voice-over in English. Furthermore, the authors will have the option to be in the video itself. JoVE will host the article online, grant unlimited “Free Access” forever, and ensure indexing in PubMed, MEDLINE, SciFinder and PubGet. Lastly, the article will be featured on the Plexon website, and promoted to our several thousand researchers and JoVE’s tens of thousands of newsletter recipients. Entry RequirementsEntrants must submit a completed Application Form acknowledging acceptance of the terms and conditions as outlined in the Official Rules along with an abstract 400 words or less by the deadline. Some of the basic requirements include that the research described must be original, previously unpublished, and must have been performed using the PlexBright Optogenetic Stimulation System. For the purposes of this contest, a PlexBright System is defined as at least one driver/controller (either the PlexBright 4 Channel Optogenetic Controller with Radiant™ Software or the PlexBright LD-1 Single Channel LED Driver) used with at least one PlexBright LED Module (either a PlexBright Table-top LED Module or a PlexBright Compact LED Module). The abstract must contain the objective, hypothesis, materials and methods and conclusions of the research. The application form may be submitted by clicking the ‘Submit’ button in the form’s upper right corner, or it can be emailed to publications@plexon.com. Contest DeadlineSaturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. central time. Definition of EntrantThe contest entrant will be determined as the account holder of the email address from which the Application Form was sent – even if the Application Form specifies another as the entrant. Only entrants may submit an Application Form. No one may submit an Application Form on behalf of another. Confirmation of EntryAll entrants will receive an email acknowledgement (manually generated during standard business hours) confirming receipt of the Application Form. Contest JudgesJudges represent personnel from both Plexon Inc and JoVE. Choosing the WinnerThe winner will be selected on the basis of impact in their field, scientific content, concept/novelty, use of PlexBright Optogenetic Stimulation System and other Plexon products, and value to the scientific community. Winner NotificationThe winner will be notified by email on or before June 30, 2014. |
